Advance Psychology has Workcover NSW approved independent consultants who are registered clinical psychologists and are experienced in the assessment, treatment and management of workplace injuries.

Our independent consultants can provide an independent peer review of treatment in consultation with the treating psychologist or counsellor.

Referrals to our independent consultants may aim to achieve, though not limited to, the following objectives:

•  review of service delivery

•  education and advice for insurers and treatment providers concerning treatment outcomes

•  consultation with the treatment provider to delineate the best treatment outcome

• make recommendations for the continuance of effective treatment or cessation of service delivery where appropriate

•  education and advice for insurers and treatment providers concerning the nature and duration of reasonably necessary psychological treatment.

The review by our independent consultants may include issues concerning:

•  the number of sessions proposed without measureable progress towards achieving treatment and return to work goals

•  the reasonable necessity of treatment

•  the current and/or future need for treatment.

Our independent consultants perform an initial review any relevant documentation regarding the case.

Following review of the documentation, our consultants may contact the treatment provider to discuss treatment. At this point, our consultants will provide a written report to both the insurer and the treatment provider with any treatment recommendations.
